 Enjoy the opportunity to play under the sun this Sprummer in one of our most popular sports. Bring your glove and get ready to have some fun!


Softball rule improvements continue in the Sprummer 2020 season and include the mandatory use of helmets by all batters and base runners. Visit the Softball Rules section here to find a full list of VSSC Softball Rules.


Sprummer 2020 Details: 

Start / End Dates

Sunday: Starts Sunday, May 3 and ends Sunday, August 23.

Monday: Starts Monday, May 4 and end Monday, August 24. 

Friday: Starts Friday, May 8 and end Friday, August 21.

# of Weeks

16 weeks (14 weeks of regular season + 2 weeks of playoffs).

Game Times

Rotating start times between:

Sunday: 10:30am, 12:00pm, 1:30pm, 3:00pm, 4:30pm and 6:00pm.

Monday: 6:30pm (games later in season may be as early as 6:00pm as the sun sets).

Friday: 6:30pm (games later in season may be as early as 6:00pm as the sun sets).


Games are 90 minutes in length. 


Note: Every effort is made to equalize the start time and game locations across the league.

Options & Price

Team registration: $845 + GST.

After checkout, send your teammates roster invites through the website (under "My Team" player list) so they can accept the waiver and access the schedule and standings once it is posted.   


Individual registration: $130 + GST.

You will be placed on a roster of individuals by end of day Tuesday, April 21. For ease of communication with our office, teams must select a captain and co-captain on our website to represent your individuals team.  Click here to learn more about Individual teams.

SAVE THE DATE: Sprummer 2020 Meet & Greet!

Did you sign-up as an individual?  Then this event is for you!

Meet your teammates, decide on a team name, captain, jersey colour, organize equipment requirements and pick-up your newsletter & player key tag. An overview of the club, rules and what you need to know about the Sprummer season will be reviewed. 


When:  Thursday, April 30. 

Shark Club Sports Bar (2852 Douglas St).

  • Starting at 6:00pm – 8:00pm – For those playing Turf & Field Soccer, Basketball, Court and Beach Volleyball.  

  • Starting at 8:30pm - 10:30pm – For those playing Softball, Kickball, Dodgeball, Floor Hockey, All-sorts of sports, and Lawn Bowling.

 Team Equipment

Team Equipment Pick-up Dates:

Have you rented equipment through VSSC or would like to?  Team captains can drop by at the dates and times below to pick up your team newsletter, player key tag and equipment. Be sure to place your equipment deposit through the shopping cart or call us at the office in advance.

  • Saturday, May 2 from 10am - 1pm at Storage for your Life (3934 Quadra St).

Rosters & Schedules

Individual team rosters will be posted online by midnight Tuesday, April 21.  

Schedules will be posted online by end of day Friday, April 24.

What you need to know about Softball!

# of People on Field

9 people (minimum 3 males and 3 females).

Suggested Roster

11-12 players.


Teams are required to use bases, mandatory catcher's mask, helmets and gold-dot or equivalent softballs.


Option 1: We encourage all teams to purchase full-size heavy duty Rawlings base sets and helmets from Kirby's Source for Sports. To ensure you get your set, please reserve your gear in the shopping card checkout.  You will need to pick-up and pay for your base set at Kirby's before the season start. You will also need to rent a catcher's mask and softballs from VSSC with a $55 deposit (online or you can call the office). Option 2: Teams may rent throw down bases (different to the above), balls, softballs and a catcher's mask from VSSC with $75 deposit. Please note - there are a limited amount of VSSC specific softball throw down base sets to rent and will be on a first come first serve basis.

NEW: Batters and Base Runners are required to wear a helmet (mandatory). Helmets are the responsibility of each team to provide. All teams must have a minimum of 4 helmets (one for the batter and 3 for potential base runners).

Please refer to the sport rules page to view league rules.  It is the responsibility of all players to read and understand the sport specific rules as well as the general rules & club policies.

Score & Spirit Point Reporting

  • Game Scores (account for 75% of total points): Team captains are responsible for reporting the scores after your game by logging into your player profile and clicking on ‘My Team’ tab and selecting ‘Report Score/Spirit Points’.  Teams have a 48 hour window to report scores after the completion of the game.  Please be timely with your score reporting so league standings can remain updated for playoff positioning.
  • Spirit Points (account for 25% of total points): Spirit points are awarded to a team from their opponent after each game to encourage sportsmanship, honesty, integrity and fair play.  For more information and how to properly award spirit points, please see our section ‘All About Spirit Points’.

Sunday: Bullen Park, Lansdowne Middle School, Northridge Elementary School, Victoria West Park, Beacon Hill Park, MacDonald Park, Cedar Hill Middle School, Braefoot Park.

Monday: Lansdowne Middle School, Macaulay Elementary School, Shoreline Middle School, Braefoot Elementary School, Frank Hobbs Elementary, Doncaster Elementary School.

Friday: Colville Diamond, Cedar Hill Middle School.
